McArthur River Bridges

Aldebaran Contracting

McArthur, NT

In early 2020 IBE Contracting was engaged by Aldebaran Contracting Pty Ltd to complete works on the McArthur River Bridges project. The scope of works for the project included:

  • Installation of the project camp
  • Installation of guardrail for the detour sections taken from a DIPL holding yard at Heartbreak Hotel
  • Removal and storage of existing guardrail at a nominated location by the project supervision
  • Demolition and removal of concrete footings for the guardrail
  • Installation of new guardrail sections
  • Installation of rock protection (reno-mattress / gabions)

Luke Clarke from IBE Contracting was on site early to ensure that all aspects of the works were planned and structured to ensure that there was minimum disruption to the head contractor whilst completing the works.

After the Tablelands Hwy Stage 2 works were completed Aldebaran Contracting were required to mobilise to the McArthur River Bridge project, working with Advance Civil. IBE Contracting were once again engaged to provide services associated with the installation of the camp at the project location. As normal Luke Clarke provided a high-quality service to Aldebaran Contracting ensuring that the camp installation progressed quickly and efficiently to allow works to commence on site.

Due to IBE Contracting being a service orientated business Luke made it clear that he was happy to mobilize back and forth from site whilst further components of the works were completed. As such he was able to commence works removing and demolishing the guardrail then demobilize whilst the earthworks were conducted prior to remobilizing to the site to install the guardrail over Amos Creek.

Luke also worked with his suppliers at Rhino Industrial to ensure that the components were all delivered to site in a timely manner, this ensured that he would be able to deliver each component of works on time and to the client’s specification. With the McArthur River Bridge works being approx. 950km from Darwin it was essential that logistics were managed effectively and to the requirements of the contract.

Due to the nature of the works at McArthur River it was important for IBE Contracting to work in with other trades/contractors to complete their works. As such, Luke was working between Aldebaran Contracting, Advance Civil and other trades attempting to complete each component of works. It was important that Luke and his team were well organised to be able to deliver this complicated scope of works (3x bridges tie in’s and 2x completely new installs).

IBE Contracting are a growing company interested in providing diverse civil construction services, irrespective of the location.
